It has been a great experience volunteering at DevFest Punjab 2019 which was held on 28 September, 2019 at The Lalit, Chandigarh, organized by GDG Jalandhar & Chandigarh. From the very first phase, i.e., being selected as a volunteer, I was so excited for that because DevFest was never a normal event to attend but a day which helped techies to set a path with a new perspective. It is the event which actually changes the mindset and gives you innovative ideas and guidance on technologies to shape your career.

DevFest Punjab brought people together who were interested in different field such as Android, ML, Flutter, Web and Cloud. We all have seen that the technical field is so versatile that it keeps on updating with the newer version. DevFest provides the platform to learn those technologies while keeping you updated with industry needs. Also, this furnish the opportunity to meet like-minded people under a roof.

As a volunteer, I have seen the hard work that team does to make DevFest, a memorable day for everyone. Team started their work months along with considering every possible way to give out their best and patching up every loophole giving out comfort to attendees and speakers. However, the team managed 400+ attendees, 10+ sessions, 10+ speakers, 3+ codelabs showing their dedication and hardwork.

Experts were guiding with the latest of google technologies like GCP, Firebase, VR, IoT and the best part was the demo zone of these technologies at one place made every session understandable and gainful. I still remember a demo of Google Assistant where Jaldeep Asodariya sir came up with a model and turned on the light with the help of Google Assistant. That made everyone of us think innovative and come up with new ideas.

Similar to this, other panels were also having so much learning at one go.

Attendees interacted with the experts in break-time discussing their ideas and experts were happy to explain and guide them. This made networking strong which is the basic requirement in the tech field. Learning about ML and CNN was also worthwhile, making the audience curious about that.

With so much of learning, the workshop on #IamRemarkable lifted up confidence and joy among participants and of course everyone loves goodies and T-shirts so ending up with distribution of goodies. observed the spark in attendees’ eyes that they have got so much in a single day like sessions, latest technologies, workshops, lunch, goodies. Well in a childish way, I can say, these are just wowww moments that no one ever wants to miss.

Being the part of this group which is no longer a group, but a family now, I had learnt a lot. Enhancing my skills like management, technical, communication, etc this journey was really fruitful which can’t be expressed in just a few words. I am very thankful to all community members for giving me a golden opportunity and being very supportive in my journey.

As I said earlier DevFest is such a high-voltage event that no one wants to miss. So, again we all have the opportunity to join the biggest event ever, as this year DevFest India 2020 will be available on a single platform. Get ready to experience the mega event and meet like-minded people from all over India this time on 16 Oct — 18 Oct 2020 because Learning should never stop.
